Ban unvaccinated kids from schools, Northland DHB urges

From Morning Report, 7:10 am on 8 May 2019

Health officials want hundreds of unimmunised children banned from schools in Northland for the next two weeks as they try to limit the risk of a measles outbreak. The area has its first two cases of the virus, which the DHB says is a concern for a region with some of the lowest immunisation rates in the country. The DHB has been told by one Northland school that it has 200 unvaccinated children. Chief executive of the Northland DHB, Dr Nick Chamberlain, tells Corin Dann not vaccinating children is ill informed - and the decision could be deadly.
