A Parliamentary Service staffer has been stood down following an allegation of sexual assault some years ago.
The Speaker Trevor Mallard says a female staff member came forward following his interview with Morning Report on Wednesday in which he said he believed there was a rapist on the premises.
The Debbie Francis Inquiry into bullying at Parliament revealed on Tuesday there were three allegations of sexual assault described as extremely serious.
Mr Mallard says he understands the three incidents were all about the same man, who's now been stood down.
