An aviation commentator says the resignation of the Civil Aviation Authority chair Nigel Gould is unsurprising at the least.
Mr Gould was asked to step aside by the Transport Minister and he has done so.
He told RNZ last night he was surprised to be asked to step down after his term was extended by a year in June.
Aviation commentator Irene King spoke to Susie Ferguson about Mr Gould's resignation.
