Devastating consequences for kids, families if school bus cut

From Morning Report, 8:55 am on 10 October 2019

A rural Hawke's Bay community says an Education Ministry plan to cut its school bus service in half will have devastating consequences for children and their families. Elsthorpe residents say the proposal will cost more, put more buses and cars on the road and create huge stresses for parents who send their children to school in nearby Havelock North. While they're preparing to fight the change, they were warned at a community meeting last night that it's part of the Ministry plan to ease pressure on Havelock North intermediate and high schools, which are forecast to hit capacity within five years. Anusha Bradley has the story.
