Winston Peters on Hong Kong extradition treaty suspension

From Morning Report, 7:48 am on 29 July 2020

Foreign Minister Winston Peters announced the suspension in response to China passing a national security law which criminalises forms of political protest in Hong Kong with penalties including life imprisonment.

Countries such as Britain, Canada and New Zealand now see the territory's judicial system as not independent enough from mainland China.
