A woman whose husband was killed in the Pike River mine explosion hopes footage showing the remains of up to three men will bring them another step closer to justice.
Anna Osborne was among the family members who met with the police last night, something that had been arranged before yesterday's announcement.
She says the families weren't shown the images, but they have been assured they are of extremely high quality.
Osborne told Morning Report the boreholes being drilled into the mine are a crucial part of the police investigation.
"Hopefully, it's going to put together the pieces that are missing so that we could hopefully, in the future, have a prosecution."
Friday is the 11th anniversary of the disaster.
