Behrouz Boochani reacts to NZ taking asylum seekers from Australia

A backdown from the Australian government that will see hundreds of refugees allowed to resettle here.

New Zealand will take 150 a year for three years under a deal that's been nine years in the making.

Since 2013 Australia has imprisoned asylum seekers arriving by boat in controversial off shore detention centres in Nauru and Manus Island.

Kurdish-Iranian journalist, writer and film producer Behrouz Boochani was once on Manus Island, but now lives in Wellington.

He spoke to Corin Dann.
