Cackles of katakata and music will make noise along the light path at Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival this week.
The banks of the Taruheru river in Gisborne have been lit with Te Ara i Whiti - the main feature of this year's festival.
Artists' installations include Erena Koopu, Ngaire Tuhua, Randal Leach and guest curator for the exhibition Melanie Tangaere Baldwin.
The festival's chief executive and founding artistic director Tama Waipara spoke to Corin Dann.
