Auckland Emergency Management issued alerts to mobile phones last night warning about the danger from an active line of thunderstorms.
The alerts followed the worst rain in the city's history, that left four dead and hundreds in emergency accommodation.
A severe thunderstorm watch from Metservice remains in place, with forecasters saying Auckland will have some relief from the rain today, before heavy falls set in again on Tuesday.
