Auckland mayor Wayne Brown has walked back plans for huge budget cuts to community organisations.
It comes as a welcome relief to many, including Manurewa Local Board deputy chairman Matt Winiata.
At a presentation yesterday, Mr Winiata broke down in tears at the prospect of no funding for an organisation that provides swimming lessons.
But some funding could be back on the table.
