The West Coast of the South Island is bucking the nationwide trend of falling job ads and massive household costs.
The SEEK employment survey released yesterday showed job ads had dropped 16% year-on-year nationwide.
The data from Infometrics shows over half of the nation's household income is now being spent on mortgages.
Except on the West Coast, it seems.
