The National Party wants to overhaul restrictions on genetic modification if it leads the next government.
National's science spokesperson, Judith Collins, says New Zealand is at risk of being left behind, and changing the rules would result in huge advances in gene technology which will help the economy grow.
She spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
