What now for the Ruapehu Alpine Lifts? During a meeting yesterday, bids to take over management of the business failed with creditors voting down proposals to either keep the current company structure, or hand it over to two private companies.
The upshot is that Ruapehu Alpine Lifts returns to the directors' control, which would lead them to seek liquidation, just weeks out from ski season.
The company went into voluntary administration last year, in debt by 45 million dollars. Ruapehu district mayor Weston Kirton spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
