The Green Party wants to introduce a new Bill, if elected, which would limit annual increases to rents, and improve the quality of rental accommodation.
Rent increases would be restricted to a maximum of three-percent each year.
Opposition parties don't like the idea, with National suggesting the Bill would see some landlords exit the market as a result, leaving fewer rental options.
