Waikato schools run own attendance services to uncover truancy

A group of schools in Waikato have opted to run their own attendance services to uncover the main drivers of truancy and encourage students to get back to school.

Newly released reports from contractors monitoring attendance show covid, distrust of the government and increased mental illness were the main factors in last year's poor attendance rates.
