Workplace deaths and injuries costs economy $4.4 billion

Workplace death and injuries are costing the economy $4.4 billion a year.

There are, on average, 73 workplace fatalities a year in New Zealand, according to the inaugural report by the Business Leaders' Health and Safety Forum.

That is double the number in Australia and equal to the UK in the 1980s.

Economist Shamubeel Eaqub spoke to Corin Dann.
