The Motor Transport Association is backing National's plan to scrap the Clean Car Discount and rework the Clean Car Standard.
National Party leader Christopher Luxon has also promised 10,000 electric vehicle chargers across the country by 2030, if elected.
MTA chief executive Lee Marshall says the targets under the clean car standard are unrealistic and wants government to work with the industry on more workable goals.
