A packed court in Christchurch has seen harrowing footage of the 2019 mosque attacks during an emotional first day of inquest into the killings.
Described as one of Aotearoa's darkest days, 51 people were killed and 40 others injured after a gunman opened fire at the al-Noor mosque and the Linwood Islamic Centre on the 15th of March.
An hour-long audio-visual timeline, providing an overview of the day's horrific events was met with silence and tears from families.
The court also heard from a senior police officer about the emergency response.
