An Auckland church is admitting it did not have smoke alarms in four temporary homes which caught fire early Thursday morning, sending people fleeing for their lives.
It can't explain the failure and the Fire Service says 18 people who lived in the cabins at Māngere Bridge are lucky to be alive.
