Auckland Council is drafting a plan to change its rubbish collection from a weekly to fortnightly service.
The goal is to reduce waste by incentivising residents to make use of the kerbside food scrap collection.
But Manurewa-Papakura councillor Daniel Newman says food waste collection should be an addition - not an alternative - to weekly rubbish collection.
