The head of an outdoors organisation says the Conservation Department's price hikes for the Great Walks will make the experience too expensive for New Zealand families.
The department is increasing prices at most Great Walk huts and campsites by 18 percent from July.
Children's fees are back, and foreign visitors can expect to see costs increase by 50 percent.
