Phenomenal guitarist and songwriter Bombino is influenced by Dire Straits and Hendrix as much as Tinariwen. His music is a uniting force in the land-locked West African republic Niger- popular not only within Tuareg circles, but throughout the whole country.
He was in New Plymouth in March to play WOMAD 2015 - and he sat down with Emma Smith for a masterclass in Saharan guitar playing.
