Georgette Mulheir is chief executive of the charity Lumos, founded by Harry Potter author JK Rowling. It aims to end the institutionalisation of all children in Europe by 2030, and globally by 2050.

A million children live in institutions such as orphanages in Europe and Central Asia. Ms. Mulheir talks about how her organisation is working to find children homes and reform care systems.

Lumos has so far helped 12,000 children move from institutions to family environments, saving the lives of more than 450 children suffering from malnutrition and neglect, and training more than 15,000 social workers, health professionals and teachers.
