Canterbury musos uniting for Ukraine

From Sunday Morning, 11:22 am on 1 May 2022

Canterbury music fans are in for a treat today, with Like A Rolling Stone hosting a 12 hour music extravaganza - United for Ukraine - to support the people of Ukraine. The first act will take the stage at 11:30am and the event is due to finish around midnight, after headliners The Eastern finish their set. All of the funds raised will go to the people of Ukraine through the New Zealand Red Cross. The gig came about after A Rolling Stone venue owners Mike and Gretchen Kane starting thinking about what they could do to assist the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. They talked to musician friends and sent out a few messages and were met with such a flurry of positive responses that the prospect of making it an all-day, all-night event soon became a no-brainer. Gretchen joins the show from Christchurch to look ahead to what's in store at A Rolling Stone over the next 12 or so hours.
